Improv Update is dedicated to highlighting improv and comedy that is available to watch or do online: podcasts, shows, articles, livestreams, workshops, jams — and whatever else is available in a digital, online format. And is relevant to improv/improvisers.

Weekly updates will send you links and descriptions to these things in your inbox, and sometimes some original tips and articles about doing improv, too.

And maybe the odd thought about improv, random fact, or new word to learn and use in your scenes.

This newsletter was originally sent as The Improv Update from Flat Improv (on the Flat Improv domain), and has now migrated to ImprovUpdate.com as of October 2024. The newsletter morphed into its own website, I guess!

Submit a free jam or workshop

I am happy to list your FREE, ONLINE improv jam or improv/comedy/voice workshop in this newsletter! Listings must be free for the community at this time (this might change if my time allows to accept paid stuff!), and they can be single or repeating sessions.

Just send me a message (reply to a newsletter or click the button below) with the details to the free session(s) and I’ll get them added to the next newsletter. Newsletters are sent most Thursday mornings.

About the author

Jen deHaan has taught and coached improv at several schools including World's Greatest Improv School (WGIS) and Queen City Comedy. She was also the Online School Director of WGIS. Jen does improv shows and makes podcasts for small niche audiences such as the one on this site, and a bunch of podcasts and shows delivered on StereoForest.

Jen founded StereoForest so she can create, direct, and produce podcasts for both audio and video delivery.

In the before-times, Jen enjoyed teaching dance fitness and performing in semi-rural vaudeville/burlesque themed shows both of which took place on stages made of wood. She loved it a lot. Like, a lot a lot.

People

I write and podcast on this site about being a neurodivergent (autistic) human in comedy. Find my comedy and audio fiction podcasts at StereoForest.com. I have been a tech professional (web and design software) since the 90s. I also love dogs!
